December started off with Emily having the flu and missing the Velveteen Rabbit. I had to stay home with her so I missed it too. Aaron, Alex and his parents got to go and had fun. I started putting up the Christmas decorations since they were gone. On Saturday the 6th we had Emily's friend party which was a joint party with her friend Mia. Friday night and Saturday morning Aaron had come
down with the flu that Emily had the previous weekend. I started calling party guest at 9 a.m. to let them know that we were moving the party to Mia's house. The party was at 10:30 a.m. Everything turned out well and the girls enjoyed their day but I don't have any pictures. I was too busy helping make cookies etc. That evening we were invited to a Christmas Party at our friends Les and Janelle Coughran's house in Snoqualamie Ridge. I toyed with taking the kids by myself down to the party and then decided that I would go. We had a great time and Santa even visited.

Emily still was a little nervous but she had her new Build a Bear Glitters sit on Santa's lap. Her Aunt Wendy took her to Build a Bear the day before for her birthday.

Alex even looks skeptical.
On Sunday the 7th Aaron was feeling better and we all went to church. The kids sang Away in the Manger during the service so I dressed them up for the occasion.
On Tuesday the 9th it was Emily's 5th Birthday!! We took her to Red Robin to celebrate and then she was the Angel of the Lord that evening in her preschool performance.
On Saturday the 13th of December we started out the day going to the Whatcom Railway Santa Train. My parents bought tickets for all of us to go. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera again but my mom did take some pictures so I will get them from her. Alex wasn't feeling well but I couldn't tell what it was. When we got home he went to sleep. We celebrated Emily and my mom's birthdays that evening at our ho
use. My mom made Emily doggie cupcakes. It started snowing that evening while we were having the party. Some of our guest ended up with a pretty slippery drive home. But, luckily everyone made it okay. Alex just went downhill. He said his throat was hurting and he had a temperature. On Sunday I took him to the Dr. They said he didn't have strep throat but just a viral thing. There wasn't anything we could do. It kept snowing and on Monday school was delayed because of snow. Emily's doesn't have preschool if there is a snow delay so she didn't go Monday. Alex still was sick so he missed school too. After a few more sleepless nights for Alex and myself I took him to the Dr. again on Tuesday. By now his ear was hurting too. They said they couldn't do anything about his throat but his ear was looking pretty bad. They sent us immediately over to an ENT in town and he said that Alex's tube was plugged up. He ended up taking the tube out and suctioned a bunch of gunk out. Then he was placed on antibiotics for his ear infection. That evening my sister was able to pick Aaron up from work. With the snow we only had one vehicle and the same thing was happening with her. She was picking Kevin up from work and Aaron was working in the same area that day so she brought Aaron home
too. Thank You Wendy! It saved me from waking up a sick kid and putting him in the car. The snow was still around. I went and picked up the rest of Alex's medicine and stopped by for a few minutes to say hi to my parents and Wendy, Kevin and Logan. I didn't know it at the time but this was my last time out of the house until that coming Saturday. Tuesday evening the 16th I came down with the chills and my throat was flamingly sore. It also snowed some more and school was delayed on Wednesday. We had to cancel my Girls Night Out Dinner because of the snow. I wasn't going anyway due to me being sick. Alex was just starting to feel better so he missed school on Wednesday once again. It was delayed again so Emily didn't go to preschool either. On Thursday school was cancelled and so were Emily and Alex's dentist appointments. Aaron started to get a fever and a sore throat. I still wasn't feeling well but managed to take some pictures of the kids in the snow. On Friday school was cancelled once again. On Saturday Aaron and I dosed up on Ibuprofen because our throats were still sore and went out. We still had snow but we heard it was going to snow again on Sunday and this might be our only chance to get out before Christmas. We went shopping at Joes, Bed Bath and Beyond, Costco and the Mall. We ate lunch at Dairy Queen which was freezing inside. It made me cold to watch the kids eating ice cream. On Sunday it had snowed again and Emily was now sick. We weren't able to go to church. Luckily, Emily seemed to be the one to not get the sore throat thing as bad because after two solid days of sleep she was feeling better on by Tuesday. On Monday Aaron was working from home once again and Emily was sleeping so I took Alex over to Brittany's house for a snowed in party. We had a good time and it was nice to see our friends. On Tuesday we heard that it was suppose to snow again so we delivered our Holiday basket of food to a family we were helping out. Most of the road in town were pretty good but the side roads were still crazy. On Wednesday, Christmas Eve, Aaron decided to go into his clients office to work and I wanted to get the kids picture with Santa at the Mall so we all loaded into the truck. We didn't make it very far and got stuck in our cul-de-sac. Luckily, our next door neighbor helped us and after about 1/2 hour we were out. I went back to get the presents for that night at Aaron's parents because I wasn't going to come back. We got the picture taken with Santa and the snow was starting to melt. The street in town were starting to look better. I went to Aaron's parents house and hung out and the
n picked Aaron up from his client's office in the Barkley area. We had a wonderful Christmas Eve with Aaron's parents, his brother and sister-in-law and nieces. When we were leaving we noticed it was starting to freeze. That evening we made sure we would be able to make it to our house with the truck and then stopped at my parent's house for my dad to read The Night Before Christmas to the kids. (See pics on my sister's blog) The next morning Christmas day it had snowed more. We had parked at the top of our cul-de-sac so we were able to get out. We went and picked up Jason and then went to my parents. The snow continued falling on and off through out the day. Friday night the 26th we had a Christmas party at our house. It was still snowing but everyone made it fine. On Saturday it was kind of starting to rain but on Sunday morning it had frozen during the night and we almost didn't make it out again with our truck. We went to church for the first time in two weeks. It felt good to finally be getting back to normal. When we got home we decided to start shoveling the cul-de-sac so we could get out if it froze again. A bunch of our neighbors joined in and we were done in no time. Then it snowed again and again. On Tuesday the 29th Emily said her neck was hurting she came home and I gave her some Ibuprofen and she slept. We woke her up to go over to my parents house and she said she was feeling better, but that night she was running a fever and saying her neck hurt. On New Years Eve day I took Emily to the Dr. and they said she had an ear infection. I was happy that was all that it was. We got her medicine. The pink gooey stuff as she calls it and that evening it was snowing but we brought in the New Year at my parent's. We came home at about 2 in the morning and slept in the next day. Our crazy December was finally over but not the snow... and as I was writing this post my hard drive crashed. Happy New Year!

We also went to the Olympic Game Farm in Sequim. We visited the Game Farm two years ago but the kids were much more into it this time. I must admit it is a little bit scary when the animals are eating out of your hands. Here are some pictures:
